Service Description

During the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been unable to run our usual regular courses here at Cilyrynys. We have therefore put together a course that will allow you to model a small sculpture in wax at home which can be sent to us for casting into bronze. Due to the popularity of this course we will be continuing it after the end of the lockdown too. For just £135 we will send you a piece of specialist modelling wax that will yield a bronze sculpture of 1kg in weight. Once you’ve received your wax just contact us to arrange the first of your one-to-one online tutorials with expert Mark. He will get you started with modelling the wax, give you some ideas of what to make if you’re stuck and answer any questions you have about the process. You can as long as you like to make your object or sculpture (up to a year from purchase) and then you can arrange another tutorial to discuss any last minute changes before sending it to us for casting. We’ll return your finished cast in a couple of weeks. Ideal for trying out casting, and for gifts - just let us know if it’s a gift and we’ll send a card with it for you. Your bronze will be cast by experienced sculptor and bronze founder Mark Halliday. Mark trained in Foundry Practice at the Royal College of Art and is a skilled mould maker and metal caster, with many years experience as an artist and teacher. He has taught at Coleg SirGar, in Carmarthen, Central Saint Martins, Birmingham School of Art and Cardiff School of Art and Design where he re-established a Fine Art Foundry and developed an MFA in Foundry Practice.
